As we gather virtually, we acknowledge that those of us in Timmins are situated in Treaty 9 territory, steeped in rich Indigenous history and home to many First Nations, Metis and Inuit People today. We also acknowledge Mattagami First Nation, on whose traditional land we are meeting. We make this acknowledgement as a first step in fulfilling our responsibility to critically look at colonial histories and their impact on the present day.

TLIP is Here to Help!

The Timmins Local Immigration Partnership (TLIP) initiative is designed to facilitate collaboration in the development of a community response that maximizes and promotes the successful integration of newcomers into our community.

What is a Local Immigration Partnership?

Local Immigration Partnerships (LIPs) are a mechanism through which Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) supports the development of community-based partnerships and planning around the needs of newcomers.

LIPs seek to engage various stakeholders in a locally-driven strategic planning process including employers, school boards, health centers and networks, boards of trade, levels of government, professional associations, ethno-cultural and faith-based organizations, the community, and social services sectors.
